The client, a Dutch festival apparel brand, needed custom embroidered patches for their Oeteldonk carnival merchandise line, facing these key challenges:

• Iconic Cultural Symbol Recreation: The design required capturing the playful spirit of the Oeteldonk frog, a beloved symbol of Den Bosch’s carnival, while balancing intricate details like facial expressions, flower accents, and the scalloped red border.

• Bright, Colorfast Thread Requirements: The vibrant carnival palette (red, green, yellow, white) needed to stay bold and fade-resistant, even after repeated washing and outdoor wear.

• Durability for Festive Use: Patches would be sewn onto jackets, bags, and hats worn during lively carnival celebrations, requiring reinforced stitching and fray-resistant edges.

Solution

We leveraged our expertise in carnival-themed embroidery to deliver a patch that honors the tradition:

• Culturally Accurate Digitization: We carefully digitized the frog’s cheerful pose, expressive features, and surrounding floral details with high stitch density, ensuring the iconic Oeteldonk charm translated perfectly into embroidery. We adjusted stitch angles to enhance the frog’s texture and the flowers’ petal shapes.

• Premium Colorfast Materials: We used fade-resistant polyester threads in the exact Oeteldonk carnival hues, with pre-production color swatches approved by the client to match their brand’s festive aesthetic.

• Festive-Grade Construction: We used a durable twill base, reinforced edge stitching, and heat-cut scalloped borders to prevent fraying. We also offered both iron-on and sew-on backing options for easy application on a variety of carnival apparel.
